Transfer Agreements (Click here for a PDF printable version) Update! The University of California has moved to a common guarantee agreement that will be called the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) for students entering the University in Fall 2009. This will be used by seven of the nine UC campuses (Berkeley and UCLA do not have guarantee arrangements). Students should plan to see counselors in late August/September if they are interested in a TAG. Currently, Diablo Valley College has transfer agreements with UC Davis, UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara (no contract required), UC San Diego (no contract required), UC Santa Cruz, CSU East Bay, and University of the Pacific. Transfer agreements allow eligible students to study at a Diablo Valley College and have a guarantee of admission as a junior-level transfer.
UC TAG AGREEMENTS UC Davis - TAG Program DVC offers a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) with UC Davis that guarantees students admission to the major of their choice. A formal TAG agreement is required. The TAG filing period is September 1 thru September 30th for Fall term 2009. See a DVC Counselor for details or visit http://admissions.ucdavis.edu/admissions/tr_tag.cfm. DVC Counselor’s will begin signing TAG agreements in mid-August. To be considered, students:
UC Irvine - TAG Program TAG, UCI's Transfer Admission Guarantee program, offers on-the-spot provisional admission to well-qualified students from participating California Community Colleges. TAG guarantees students admission to all majors except some majors that require an audition. Before a student can meet with a UC Irvine admissions counselor to review a TAG application they must complete the following 3 steps: 1. Review the ‚Selection Guidelines chart to determine if student qualifies for TAG. 2. Complete online TAG form and bring an unofficial transcript through current enrollment to appointment. Go to www.admissions.uci.edu/tag for more information; 3. Schedule an appointment to meet with a UC Irvine Admissions Counselor. Make an appointment with a UCI representative at the DVC Transfer Center, at the UCI campus, or by contacting the Northern California representative, Norma Peniche at npeniche@uci.edu. The appointment should be scheduled sometime during the six weeks prior to the closing of the priority filing period for the quarter in which you wish to enter UCI (the online application does not need to be submitted, just completed and printed, in order to make the appointment). TAGs for UCI are accepted through December 2009, contact UCI representative, Norma Peniche for official TAG deadlines To be considered, students: 1. Must have completed 30 UC-transferable (45 quarter) units at one or more California Community Colleges. 2. Must have the minimum transferable GPA which varies by major. For GPA, check the website: www.admissions.uci.edu/tag.html 3. Must complete the minimum UC transfer eligibility requirements in English and Math. The mathematics and first English course must be completed by the end of the November 30 application filing period. The second English course must be completed by Spring 2009 for Fall 2009 admission, and by Summer 2009 for Winter 2010 admission. 4. Must complete all specific courses required for admissions as well as preparation courses for popular UC Irvine majors prior to transfer. 5. Must complete a total 60 transferable (90 quarter) units by the end of the semester prior to transfer. Students may use Summer to complete transferable units except for Math and English. 6. No international college course work will be accepted, but international students with only California Community College coursework may apply using the TAG. NOTE: Majors in Arts and Humanities, Dance, Humanities and Arts, Humanities Interdisciplinary, and Music that require auditions do not participate in the TAG program. UC Merced – TAG Program The University of California at Merced offers a Transfer Admission Guarantee for junior transfers who want the assurance that they will be admitted to the campus. The TAG provides a good way to ensure that students are following the best plan as they prepare to transfer.
To initiate the guarantee and individualized academic advising, they should email the campus at transfer@ucmerced.edu, or phone 866.270.7301 (toll-free in California) or website http://transfers.ucmerced.edu/ and click “Transfer Admission Guarantee”. UC Riverside - TAG Program DVC offers a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) with UC Riverside (UCR). The TAG is available for all undergraduate majors, with the exception of Art (Studio). Contact UCR to make an appointment with a UC Riverside Transfer Counselor to discuss eligibility. Must have completed 30 UC-transferable semester (45 quarter) units at the time the TAG is written. 2. Must meet minimum cumulative GPA in all UC-transferable units and be in good academic standing including the following major requirements: a. Engineering:2.8 in required courses listed on www.assist.org b. Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences: 2.8 c. Business Administration: 3.0 (plus completion of two of six general prerequisites and one lower-division prerequisite w/ a C or better) d. Natural and Ag Sciences: 3.0 (plus completion of courses required for selective majors w/ C or better) 3. Must be a US citizen, Permanent Resident, or AB540 qualified. 4. All coursework MUST be completed at a California Community College. 5. Must have completed or have in progress the mathematics and English courses necessary to satisfy regular UC admission requirements. For fall admission must complete the courses by the previous spring term and Winter admission must complete courses by the previous summer. Note: Applicants to Business Administration, majors in the College of Natural & Agricultural Science, majors in The Marlan and Rosemary Bourns College of Engineering, and applicants with 150 or more quarter units are subject to screening beyond the minimum transfer admission requirements. UC San Diego - TAG Program DVC offers a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) with UC San Diego. TAGs for 2009-10 include admission to campus and first choice of six colleges; TAGs do NOT guarantee admission to impacted majors or designated majors with required major prep at UCSD. DVC students do not need to sign a formal TAG contract. Students must apply to UCSD Nov. 1-Nov. 30th for Fall term 2009 and July 1-31st Winter term 2010. Full completion of IGETC is required. UC Santa Barbara – TAG Program DVC offers a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) with UC Santa Barbara for Fall that applies to all DVC transfer applicants who meet the TAG criteria at the time of regular filing for Fall admission. TAGs are available for general admission to the College of Engineering, the College of Letters and Science excluding dance, music and theatre, and TAGS are not available for the College of Creative Studies. DVC students do not need to sign a formal TAG contract; all DVC applicants will automatically be screened for TAG criteria. To be considered, students: 1. Must apply for Fall admission during the regular filing period, November 1-30. 2. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 in all UC-transferable units through spring 2009 3. Must complete the following courses with C grades or better by the end of current fall term for subsequent fall term admission: a) two UC-transferable English composition courses (UC-E) b) one UC-transferable mathematics course (UC-M) 4. Must complete, with C grades or better by the end of spring term, four UC-transferable courses from at least two of the following three areas: Arts & Humanities (UC-H) Behavioral & Social Sciences (UC-B) Biological and Physical Sciences (UC-S) 5. Must complete at least 60 UC-transferable semester units by the end of spring 6. Must complete the last 30 of your 60 or more UC-transferable units in residence at your current community college 7. International students may apply using the TAG. This transfer agreement may be written one year in advance of the transfer term. UC Santa Cruz will accept transfer admission guarantees for the Fall Quarter only. The TAG filing period is August 1st through October 15th. TAG is for admission to campus only. Applicants who have already attended a four year institution (college/university) must have completed less than 20 semester units (30 quarter units). 4. Applicants who have international records from colleges/universities from outside the U.S. are NOT ELIGIBLE.
CSU TRANSFER ADMISSION AGREEMENTS CSU East Bay – TAG Program DVC offers a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) with CSU East Bay that guarantees later entry to Cal State East Bay. Benefits include a waiver of the $55 application fee and a Cal State East Bay photo identification card which can be used to gain access to the university library, gym, and other selected facilities. TAG agreements must be completed prior to application for admission into Cal State East Bay. The TAG is available to non-impacted majors only. See DVC counselors for details. To be considered students: 1. Must have completed 12 units or more 2. Must be a California resident 3. Must be a first-time undergraduate student 4. Must have earned a cumulative GPA of 2.0 by the time of transferring 5. Must have at least 60 semester or 90 quarter transferable units by the time of transferring 6. Must be in a good standing, and have completed transferable GE courses in English Composition, Speech, Critical Thinking, and Mathematics with a grade of C or better by the time of transfer. Note: TAG is NOT available for F1 or H visa holders, second bachelor’s degree or impacted program applicants, and students with coursework from other countries.
PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES TAA’s University of the Pacific - TAA Program DVC offers a Transfer Admissions Guarantee (TAA) with the University of the Pacific which guarantees students admission to most majors. The following programs or majors are not included: Art, the Conservatory of Music, Dental Hygiene, Pharmacy or Pre-Pharmacy. However, Pre-Pharmacy and Pre-Dentistry applicants may apply with a TAA as Biology majors. The TAA must be signed by the student, a DVC Counselor and a University of the Pacific representative. To be considered students: 1. Must file the TAA by February 1st for fall entrance and July 1st for spring entrance (see a DVC counselor well before these dates); 2. Must submit application for admission by February 15th for fall entrance or November 15th for spring entrance; 3. Must complete a minimum of 30 semester units including specific courses for certain majors by the end of the term prior to attending; 4. Must have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.0. In the last term, must have a minimum GPA of 2.6, with no grades less than a "C". Then see a DVC Counselor. * * * * * * * * * REMEMBER: Even if you don't apply using a transfer agreement, you can still apply to these schools under regular admission.
